Freedom through Trust 🦅

bgdchicago

One of the things I love most about the change of seasons is how the trees go bare, revealing their secrets. When the leaves fall away, suddenly, the birds' nests—hidden all year—are exposed. It’s as if nature is giving us a gentle nudge, a reminder that even when we don’t see it, the Master is always at work.

Watching the birds flit around those branches, it’s clear: they aren’t flying in panic, worrying about where they’ll find twigs or what they’ll need for their nests 🪺.

They simply get to work, trusting that what they need will appear in due time.

It makes me think of Matthew 6:26:"Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?"

Nature reminds us of God’s sovereignty and His perfect provision. We, as His masterpiece, are invited into that same trust. But instead of embracing it, how often do we overcomplicate things? We worry, we strive, we try to take control—thinking we can somehow help God out. Yet Jesus also asks us in Matthew 6:27:"Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?"

The answer, of course, is no.

Trusting the Master’s PlanIt’s so simple, isn’t it? God doesn’t need our help. He has everything under control. But when we don’t activate our trust in Him, we actually hold Him up from blessing us. Imagine that—the Creator of the universe, ready and willing to move mountains for us, waiting for us to let go and believe.

As we approach a new year, I invite you to take a cue from the birds. They are happy, joyous, and free—because they know God has it all figured out. Their work is to show up, use what’s been given, and trust in His timing.

What if we lived the same way? What if we stopped complicating things and surrendered the worry?

A Prayer for the New Year 🙏🏾

Lord, help us to be like the birds—working with purpose, trusting with faith, and resting in Your promises. Teach us to let go of the need to control, and instead, to trust You fully. As we step into this new season, may we find peace in knowing You hold everything in Your hands. Amen.

This season, every time you see a bird’s nest in a naked tree, let it remind you: God is always working behind the scenes. Trust Him. He’s got you covered.
